What is ANEW?

The Association for Non-Traditional Employment for Women. (ANEW) is a non-profit charitable organisation based at Chennai. ANEW is registered under the T.N. Societies Registration Act.

ANEW has been providing free training for young women from underprivileged families, who would otherwise be unemployed.

ANEW is dedicated to helping young women get access to practical job skills and good paying full time jobs. Employment choices for women from underprivileged families in India are limited to "traditional" jobs in agriculture and low-skilled handicraft work. In many cases these women are exploited or underemployed. Over the last few years ANEW has provided more than 2,400 women with the training required to become home nurses, computer operators, car drivers and autorickshaw drivers.

Mr. Basil Sellers was born in India and at age 11 migrated with his parents to Australia. He started his career in the financial services industry and went on to become one of Australia’s most successful entrepreneurs. He is an avid sportsman, a patron of the arts and a leading philanthropist. A true achiever in his business ventures, Basil is a person of immense vision and has made huge contributions to improve the lives of the underprivileged in many countries around the world.
