ANEW Management

The services of all management committee members are voluntary. They have volunteered to be part of ANEW team, whenever the need for members with certain expertise was required to run the operations at ANEW.

Lakshmi Kumar
President (1997 - 2003)

Mrs.Lakshmi, as the first president of ANEW was instrumental in laying the strong foundation for the organization. She took care of the initial hurdles in administrative issues, to ensure smooth functioning of the organization.

Vatsala Ramakrishnan
President (2003 - 2005)

She initiated many projects that helped provide ANEW, the much needed exposure among the public. Mrs.Vatsala was a dynamic and able leader. She pioneered truly non traditional courses for the underprivileged women.

Dr. Annalakshmi
President (2005 – present)

A doctorate in life sciences, is one of the founder members of ANEW and has been with the organization since its inception in 1997. She has been assisting the previous office bearers and has gained immense knowledge and experience in this field, before she took over responsibilities as the President. She is currently responsible for optometry and car driving projects, other than executing the office duties and ensuring smooth functioning of the organization, as president. She believes in the cause very strongly, that she has led the organization successfully to the place it has reached today. Dr. Annalakshmi, feels a compelling need to make a positive impact on the lives of underprivileged women and is determined to reach out and help as many women as possible.

Vinodhini Sudhindran
Secretary

A science graduate, she has been with ANEW for the past several years. She is an ex-president of soroptimist International of Chennai, and is continuing to be an active member of the organization. As the secretary of ANEW, she shares responsibilities with the president, connecting and interacting with sponsors, forging new relationships and assisting in the day to day operations of ANEW. She is also responsible for assisting Dr. Annalakshmi with the Car driving project. She supports this cause as she believes empowering the underprivileged women is a long term solution, rather than helping them with short term benefits. Vinodhini, also enjoys the learning experience at ANEW and growing as a person, along with ANEW

Mary Carnute Franklin
Treasurer

A science graduate, she has held the most responsible position at ANEW for the past few years, being the treasurer. Her task involves meticulously taking care of the day to day transactions, maintaining transparency and accountability. She began as a volunteer, teaching spoken English to the trainees. Mary, impressed with the work done at ANEW, decided to be part of it and contribute more time to the organization and feels very committed to her role.

Ranjini Venugopal
Committee member, Administration

A post graduate in science, she is responsible for the administrative work which includes maintaining records, book keeping, stock registering and all works essential for smooth functioning of administration at ANEW. She has previously worked for CanStop, a NGO working with cancer patients. She was actively involved in “play therapy” for the pediatric cancer patients. Ranjini, began as a volunteer, to assist with administration work at ANEW. But, decided to contribute more when she witnessed the impact of ANEW on the lives of underprivileged women.

Shyamala Kenneth
Committee member, Administration

A graduate in science, has been supporting the administration and accounting work at ANEW. She assists Ranjini with all her responsibilities. She feels society does not provide the right opportunities to women from underprivileged background. She is happy to make a difference by being part of an organization that works towards that cause.

Kamala Muthiah
Committee member, Home nursing

A graduate in arts, she has been with ANEW for the past few years. She is incharge of the home nursing project at ANEW and also volunteers as spoken English teacher. She decided to be part of ANEW as she supports the cause of underprivileged women and helping them make a better life for themselves.

Badrunnisa Mahadevan
Committee member, Home nursing

A post graduate in history, she is responsible for coordination and supervising home nursing course at ANEW. She has been with ANEW for the past few years. She is also involved as a treasurer in The Christmas Fair Association and as a committee member in Cheshire Home, a care center for the disabled. She took the small step to volunteer as a spoken English teacher but found goals of ANEW as the landing gear of dreams of underprivileged women. Badrunnisa believes, as an individual, it is possible to help one person and become part of the solution.

Suchitra. K. Menon
Committee member, House keeping & Events

A professional Hotelier, trained in hotel management and Catering technology is an entrepreneur, managing a service apartment. She plays the role of the event manager at ANEW, organizing and managing events from plan to finish. She is also responsible for house keeping at ANEW. Suchitra, has been with ANEW for the past few years and finds peace of mind, by contributing her share to the cause she believes in.

Sujata Paulose
Committee member, Computer applications

A post graduate in Mathematics, is an entrepreneur, managing a logistics and software company in Chennai. She is one of the trustees at Banyan, a care center for mentally disabled women and also volunteers at Gnanadeepam, school for mentally disabled children. She has been with ANEW for the past few years, and is responsible for the efforts involving computer department. Sujata, loves to be part of the good work done at ANEW and the positive atmosphere the organization exudes.

Sathya Anbajagane
Committee member, Computer applications

A graduate in engineering and a computer professional, she joined the team recently. She assists Sujata in the responsibilities involving computer department and is responsible for social media initiatives at ANEW. She is also a committee member of ICCW, Indian Council for Child Welfare, an NGO working for the cause of all children related issues. Sathya, enjoys being part of the energetic team accomplishing high impact work at ANEW.
