Free vocational training for under-privileged girls

Association for Non-Traditional Employment for Women (ANEW) (16/107, AH Block, AH 4th Street, Shanthi Colony, Anna Nagar), conducts free vocational training for under-privileged women in the age group 18 to 40.
The starting dates for the new batches for the various courses are
- DCA (Computers): Oct.12
- Home Nursing: Oct.20
- DTP (Computers): Immediate
- House Keeping: Oct.21
- Auto/Car driving: Oct.21
- Tally and Accounting: Immediate

Free vocational training for under-privileged girls Association for Non-Traditional Employment for Women (ANEW) at Anna Nagar is conducting free training on DCA (computer), home nursing, DTP, house keeping, car driving, auto-driving and tally and accounting for the under privileged women between aged between 18 and 40.
It not only gives training but also takes care of the placements too for these girls. Till now, 3565 girls have been trained in various fields. The ANEW started a course on tally and accounting from 5 October. |

Female Drivers find their niche

When Dr Basima Farah started looking for women drivers for her all-women cab service Go For Pink Ladies Call Taxi Service, she got no responses to her newspaper ads. "If I did get responses, they were men pretending to be women. It was so frustrating," she says, laughing. After four months of searching, she went to ANEW Association for Non-Traditional Employment for women-that runs courses to train women as home nurses, computer operators, car drivers and autorickshaw drivers. |

All-women call taxis roll out in city

She's spent most of her working life wielding probes and curettes, examining people's teeth and gums. But from Thursday, dentist Basima Farah has been taking calls and dispatching cabs to destinations across the city. She and her husband Dr Ariff Ali have launched the city's first all-women cab services, Go For Pink Ladies Call Taxi Service, with five women drivers who ferry only women and children around. |

An Alumni Meet for Review is held on 30th May '09 , many trainees came & shared their testimonies, which were motivating to the new trainees. The Committee members also had an interactive session with the trainees and clarified the doubts of the trainees. The Salary for the trainees has been reviewed with effect from 1st April '09 . Mr.Subbaiyan spoke to them on their duties & rights. Press people from Indian Express & Dina Mani covered the event. A group song & a group dance were presented by the trainees as entertainment. Mr.Chandrasekar, Secretary of Tamil Nadu Foundation gave a motivational talk to the trainees. |

Women car drivers available for employment

5 young women drivers who have been trained by ANEW (Association for Non-traditional Employment for Women)(AH 107, AH 4th Street, behind Shanthi Colony, Anna Nagar)are available for employment either at homes or offices.
According to Sujitha Raveen (Project manager), ANEW has so far trained 74 young women in car driving and almost all of them are gainfully employed either by hotels as parking valets, or at the airport, or by schools or as personal drivers.
The general response from the employers has been very positive since these young women are well trained, disciplined and dedicated, she said.

Free vocational courses for girls from poor families

The association for Non-traditional Employment for Women (ANEW), AH 107, AH 4th Street (behind Shanthi Colony, Anna Nagar) will start its next batches of free vocational courses for girls from poor families this month.
For those who have studied upto Std. 8, the course on House Keeping in 5-star hotels will begin on Feb. 16. The course will consist of 2 months theoretical training in ANEW and a month’s practical training in 5-star hotels such as Hotel Green Park, Hotel Savera and GRT Grand Days.After completing the course, the girls can get jobs with a salary of Rs. 4,500 to 4,700.
The 4-month course on home Nursing will begin on Feb. 18 for girls who have completed Std. 10. On successful completion, the girls can got a salary of Rs. 3,500.
Girls who have completed Std. 12 can join the computer course which starts on Feb. 27. |

ANEW, Anna Nagar, offers free courses for underprivileged women between the age of 18 and 40.
The batch in housekeeping will begin on 16 February. The course is scheduled for two months of theoretical training on tis premises and one month practical at five-star hotels in the city. After finishing the course, they will get a salary of Rs. 4,500 to Rs. 7,000 per month.
The batch in home nursing will begin on 18 February. Girls who have completed X Std. can join this course. The course is for four months and they will placed Rs. 3,500 per month.
Girls who have completed XII std or graduation can apply for a computer course which commences on 27 February.

Free computer classes for Std. 12 completed girls

The Association for Non-traditional Employment for Women (ANEW), AH 107, AH 4th Street (behind Shanthi Colony, Anna Nagar) will start its next batch of free computer classes for girls from under-privileged families on Jan. 27.
Girls who have completed Std. 12 or graduation can join. Spoken English and self-awareness classes will also be held for them.
During the last 11 years, ANEW has trained 3279 girls in home nursing, computer education, car driving, auto-rickshaw driving and house keeping.
3 of its former trainees are employed for valet parking in Savera Hotel, while 2 others are employed in the airport for driving aircraft crew from their office th the aircraft and back.
Girls trained in computers have secured jobs as Data Entry Operators and Front Office staff on salaries ranging from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 6,000. |
