DRIVING
Today there is a growing demand
in India for licensed female drivers. ANEW offers car
driving training to enable students to obtain a state driver's license either for automobiles or auto rickshaws. Qualified driving
tutors have been recruited to provide a comprehensive
course right upto the state testing.
This has become a very successful
program wherein ANEW graduates are working as chauffeurs
and valet parking attendants at five star hotels as
well as automobile drivers for airline crew and passengers
at the Chennai Airport.
The girls recruited to join this course
are given financial assistance to complete the one and
a half month training with IRTC. On procuring their
license from IRTC, they undergo a 2 month on-the-road
training at ANEW. During this period the students are
taught even the basics of maintenance of the automobile.
The Automobile Association of South India assesses these
candidates and imparts further theory classes on defensive
driving.
