SOFTWARE SKILLS

Computer skills have become a basic requirement for employment in India. The three month ANEW Computer Course provides in-depth training in the most commonly used software packages. Students learn Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Internet Explorer. The course also includes training in an accounting package. Computer training is conducted by qualified professionals.

All of the training is conducted at the ANEW computer centre using equipments kindly donated by corporate houses. Every student has adequate access to a computer for frequent practice sessions and independent projects. The computer courses are constantly overbooked and ANEW urgently needs funding to expand this project.

Women trained for basic software skills

The computer centre has turned out 111 DCA-trained girls, of whom 72% have found work. They earn anything from Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,000, which makes all the difference between life and suffering for many of these girls who come from poor backgrounds.
